Did you know Scotland has some of the most progressive outdoor access legislation in the world?

Thanks to the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003, everyone living in or visiting Scotland has the right of responsible access to most land and inland water for recreation and walking.

These pioneering rights are sometimes inaccurately referred to as the ‘right to roam,’  but Scotland’s approach is more structured, placing a strong emphasis on responsibility and respect for people, property, and nature.

The Scottish Outdoor Access Code 2005 provides guidance on responsible behavior when exercising these rights.

Get out there!

With great outdoor access rights and lots of lovely places to walk in towns, villages and the countryside, Scotland is a walker’s paradise.
