The Step Count Challenge is Walking Scotland’s team walking challenge. It’s a fun, inclusive way to get moving, feel better, and make a difference.

No matter why you walk, who you walk with, or where you are on your walking journey, this challenge is for you!

We run two national Step Count Challenges every year, one in spring and one in autumn. You can also arrange your own local or workplace challenge at a time that works best for you.

All you need to take part is a of team 5 and plenty of enthusiasm to get active!

Every step or roll counts.  Whether you’re walking or wheeling to the shops, doing the school run, or heading to work. You might be exploring your neighbourhood, or catching up with colleagues on the move…

It costs £60 per team to take part – that’s just £12 per person (roughly the price of 4 coffees) – to get you walking or wheeling your way to a healthier, happier, greener you!

It’s easy to get started. Sign up for the next challenge and book your team place today.

You’ll get exclusive access to our Step Count Challenge dashboard. Track your progress, earn virtual badges, grow your virtual forest, check the leaderboard and celebrate with your team .

Fundraising for Walking Scotland

Why not fundraise for us as you walk or wheel? Your fundraising helps us address challenges from health inequalities to the climate-nature emergency.

Choose a total step count goal or total distance goal and create an online fundraising page. Supporters can donate to spur you on to your target.
