Walking isn’t only good for our physical, social and mental health. It’s also good for our communities, the environment and the economy.
We support and inspire people in Scotland to walk and wheel more.
Walk. Connect. Change your world.
The top destination for walking tips, tools and inspiration.
Walking Scotland and Living Streets Scotland are calling on the 129 new Members of the Scottish Parliament to embrace ‘The Power of Walking’. We believe Scotland should be a walking and wheeling nation.
Can you help us get the message out to candidates?
Walking is one of the best ways to address some of the greatest challenges of our time, including health inequalities, physical inactivity, and the climate-nature emergency.
We look to the next Government to have bold ambitions on walking and wheeling and a commitment to sustained funding to achieve these goals. We need to see walking and wheeling at the heart of Government, with long-term investment, improved infrastructure in our communities and safer conditions for walking and wheeling across Scotland. You can write to your candidates using our editable online letter (please note this link will take you to the Living Streets website). Call on your local candidates to deliver on our 4 practical steps to create a walking and wheeling nation. Published: 26 February 2026
