Walking isn’t only good for our physical, social and mental health. It’s also good for our communities, the environment and the economy.
We support and inspire people in Scotland to walk and wheel more.
Walk. Connect. Change your world.
The top destination for walking tips, tools and inspiration.
Mearns and Coastal Healthy Living Network, with the help of trained volunteers, currently offers 2 weekly health walks for people over 50 in the towns of Stonehaven (Mondays, 10am, Leisure centre carpark) and Laurencekirk (Wednesdays, 2pm, Masonic Hall). Mearns and Coastal Healthy Living Network, the charity who set up and support these walks, works with organisations and groups in the community to improve the health of older people. We are also part of the Scottish Health Walk Network. The walks we offer are gentle and short, lasting a maximum of one hour and are designed to be sociable, fun and to suit all. Our health walks are for people over 50 who have been inactive and would like to increase their level of activity and health. We have received our ‘Dementia Friendly’ accreditation from Paths for All, meaning that at least one walk leader from each of our weekly walks has completed the necessary training (risk assessments, awareness etc.), to welcome and support people living with dementia to join our walks.
