Walking isn’t only good for our physical, social and mental health. It’s also good for our communities, the environment and the economy.
We support and inspire people in Scotland to walk and wheel more.
Walk. Connect. Change your world.
The top destination for walking tips, tools and inspiration.
Every year on the first Wednesday of April, we join communities across the country in celebrating National Walking Day.
As spring awakens around us, there’s no better time to rediscover the simple joy of time outdoors. Walking and wheeling are among the most accessible forms of exercise, and they make us feel better in body and mind.
Walking and wheeling mean something different to each of us – whether it’s your daily commute, a peaceful garden stroll, a social chat with friends, or some time to yourself. It might be your journey to the shops, a lunch break escape, or an evening wind-down.
Whatever walking or wheeling means to you, National Walking Day is the perfect opportunity to celebrate it and get other people excited about it too.
Every step counts, and every supporter brings us closer to a happier, healthier and greener Scotland. We’ll be sharing what we’re doing for the next National Walking Day, 1 April 2026, early next year.
