71% of dog owners walk every day, compared to 57% of adults overall.
These figures underline the powerful role dogs play in turning walking into a consistent, everyday routine.

“For many people across Scotland, dogs are the reason they walk every single day. Walking is one of the most accessible ways to improve both physical and mental wellbeing. What’s striking in this year’s survey is how powerful routine can be. Dogs don’t negotiate about going out – they help make walking part of everyday life.” Kevin Lafferty, our Chief Executive Officer

For many, the daily dog walk offers more than exercise. It provides regular time outdoors, connection with local green spaces and paths and moments of calm in otherwise busy days. This National Walk Your Dog Day, Sunday 22 February, we encouraged dog owners to explore their local neighbourhood, park, woodland or coastal path. Do you walk or wheel with your dog? We want to hear about it!
