Director
Paul is a Reader in Physical Activity for Health at the University of Edinburgh where he has been based since August 2014. He is Co-Deputy Director of the Physical Activity for Health Research Centre (PAHRC) led by Prof Marie Murphy.
His primary research focus is public health evaluation, with a focus on policies and programmes designed to promote walking and cycling.
Paul previously worked at the University of Oxford, where he completed a PhD (2010 to 2013) using wearable cameras to measure active travel and validate self-reported measures.
Paul joined our Board in October 2018.
Paul shares a walking memory:
“A favourite walking memory is when we walked the Union Canal shortly after moving to Edinburgh. We did it in stages, using the handy train and bus links, but it was a wonderful way to explore the area.”
