Walking isn’t only good for our physical, social and mental health. It’s also good for our communities, the environment and the economy.
We support and inspire people in Scotland to walk and wheel more.
Walk. Connect. Change your world.
The top destination for walking tips, tools and inspiration.
We’re replacing our long-established name, Paths for All, to better reflect our mission and growing impact across the country.
Our new name reinforces our position as the country’s national authority on walking and wheeling. It builds on decades of proven impact while setting ambitious goals for the future. We envision a Scotland where everyone, regardless of who they are or where they live has access to safe, welcoming environments to walk and wheel.
Our launch follows overwhelming support for a clearer, bolder brand that better communicates our purpose and makes it easier for people to get involved – whether through walking, wheeling, supporting or donating.
“This isn’t just a name change, it’s a renewed commitment to putting walking and wheeling at the heart of everyday life in Scotland. “For almost 30 years, we’ve made a real difference in communities across the country. But we’re not done yet. Walking changes lives – it improves health, connects people and helps address some of Scotland’s biggest challenges. “Walking Scotland reflects a fresh and inclusive identity that truly captures the scale of our ambition for the next 30 years. We want everyone in Scotland to be able to walk and wheel, everywhere, every day. “The feedback from our stakeholders, communities and partners has been incredibly positive – this brand resonates and will help us reach more people and grow our impact.”
Kevin Lafferty, our Chief Executive
We’ve been around for almost three decades, making a real impact through walking groups, policy changes, and supporting people to be active. But when we asked people what they thought of us, we discovered something important.
Those who knew us trusted us, they were right behind what we do. But there was a lack of awareness among the public. There was a strong sense that we needed to be clearer about who we are, what we do, and what we stand for.
We consulted widely – with the public, volunteers delivering local Health Walk and path projects, and our network of walking projects across Scotland. The message was unanimous: we needed a name that puts walking front and centre.
Our new name does exactly that. Walking is right there in the title, and our strapline makes it clear we’re here for everyone.
‘Your national walking and wheeling charity’ is important to us because we want everyone to be able to take part. This includes people in wheelchairs, people pushing prams, or using mobility aids. Walking is for everyone, everywhere, every day.
Our new logo inspired by Scotland, shows our national reach and the connections we make. We support projects from the Hebrides to the Borders, helping with new path delivery, holding walking challenges, and training people to run Health Walks safely.
The shift also reflects the growing recognition of walking as a low-cost, high-impact solution to a range of challenges, from health inequalities to the climate-nature emergency.
Walking changes lives
There’s a growing body of evidence that supports our mission. According to our most recent national attitudes survey, over 77% of Scots agree that walking helps to clear their minds and improve their mood.
Walking is life changing. It’s good for our bodies, good for our wellbeing, keeps us healthy, and helps reduce the climate impact of driven journeys.
Our brand new website puts people at the heart of everything, with stories of how walking changes lives, tips, advice and inspiration. Whether you want to get your local path ship-shape or join a friendly walking group to get a little fitter, we’re here for you.
We’re proud of our legacy and excited about our future. With almost three decades of solid foundation behind us, we’re building a path to the next 30 years. Walking Scotland is ready to be bolder, clearer, and more inclusive than ever.
We’d love for you to join us. Spread the word, get your shoes on, support us, donate because together we can create a walking nation.
