Walking isn’t only good for our physical, social and mental health. It’s also good for our communities, the environment and the economy.
We support and inspire people in Scotland to walk and wheel more.

Scottish Disability Sport has taken part in our popular Step Count Challenge several times, using it to encourage some friendly competition between staff and help them to bring more activity in their day.
Their volunteer Chair Catherine was nominated by her teammates to be the Step Count Champion after the spring challenge in 2023. The award recognised her efforts to motivate her team over the 8 weeks, encouraging them to share photos and stories from the places they were walking.
“Every step mattered no matter how many or how little.”
Catherine’s teammates nominated her for the Step Count Champion award because of her motivation and dedication to them during the challenge. The aim was to help everyone feel part of the challenge even if they weren’t walking very far. She helped her team see that even with their busy lives, just a small amount of extra movement was worth it.
The team got together for everyday walking including on dog walks and trips to local parks, motivated by the challenge to do things they wouldn’t have done otherwise.
“The challenge gave us the purpose that then went beyond the steps.”
The Step Count Challenge is a great way to bring people from across a workplace together, encourage them to walk more during their day, and help with team-building and connections.
“The whole experience was fun and brought us together.”
Pick your team, track your steps and walk your way to workplace glory.
