In memory of Richard, a passionate walker

In July 2024, staff at the University of Edinburgh decided to raise money for us in memory of their colleague Richard, who passed away suddenly. Richard was known for regularly walking with his friends in the Braid Hills near Edinburgh, as he felt it was good for the soul.

A bake sale was hosted over lunch breaks on two days, selling homemade cakes. There was judging to award the baking crown to the tastiest treats and raffle tickets to win a variety of prizes.

The team were able to raise over £950 for Walking Scotland. They feel that Richard would have been proud of their baking efforts, and supportive of money going to a charity that supports more people to benefit from walking and it being good for everyone’s soul.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part.
