Walking isn’t only good for our physical, social and mental health. It’s also good for our communities, the environment and the economy.
We support and inspire people in Scotland to walk and wheel more.
Walk. Connect. Change your world.
The top destination for walking tips, tools and inspiration.
Natalie, our Walking Communities Development Officer, shares why she loves walking throughout the winter months…
It’s the deep satisfaction of moving in nature, a grounding experience. Embracing the crisp air and crunching snow, I find deep calm and clarity. The cold air sharpens the senses, the stillness clears the mind, and the quiet walks offer a true escape and a boost for the body and spirit.
I love foraging for cones, leaves and other woodland treasures that I can take home to my craft room and turn into something unique and magical.
“Winter walks are mood lifting and a great stress relief. The rewards are hot drinks, cosy returns and sense of accomplishment!”
I find foraging and walking a joyful activity and enjoy combining a good walk with creative fulfilment. Foraging promotes sustainability, as we use what is available from the great outdoors. You can use what you forage to make unique and personalised gifts.
This year I made door wreaths, table decorations and tree decorations for friends and family. Foraging and crafting are great family activities that are fun and accessible for all ages. It connects your home to the outdoors and it’s natural beauty.
