Walking isn’t only good for our physical, social and mental health. It’s also good for our communities, the environment and the economy.
We support and inspire people in Scotland to walk and wheel more.
Walk. Connect. Change your world.
The top destination for walking tips, tools and inspiration.
A walking team based on the Shetland Islands won our autumn 2022 Step Count Challenge crown for the second time, registering over 3.6 million steps in just four weeks.
From a pool of over 480 other teams across Scotland, the five-strong “Twisted Blisters” team finished the 4 week challenge in the top spot, each braving windy, wintery conditions to go for an average of 3 walks every day.
Though the team have won more than once, they see the real prize for taking part is the physical and mental health improvements you can gain from walking. Setting a walking goal and achieving it as a team is very rewarding, and even for team members who have taken part a number of times, some as many as 14, “The endorphins and the sense of achievement from walking never gets old.”
Breaking up a working day by going for a walk, is a great way to boost productivity. Especially while working from home, it’s often easy to stay at your desk and not move, especially if it’s raining or you feel sluggish, but as one team member shared,
“Being active helps me continue to bring new fresh ideas”.
